When Kelsie was first diagnosed with food allergies, I didn't even think about personal hygiene products. I just assumed that stuff such as tooth paste, shampoo, etc. wouldn't contain her food allergens. I was wrong. We learned fairly quick that one of her sensitivities, blue dye happens to be in a lot of stuff, that isn't even blue! Some how companies have managed to make white toothpaste include blue dye. Crazy, but true. We had to start searching for safer alternatives. This is when we first ran across Tom's of Maine® toothpaste.
After purchasing it we went home, I jumped online to their website to see what Tom's of Maine® was and what else besides toothpaste did they make, since I had never heard of it. They have a whole line of personal hygiene products from toothpaste and deodorant, to soap and body wash, plus so much more. Their products are actually made in the United States, in the state of Maine. Their products, not just the toothpaste, but other items as well do not contain artificial colors, flavors, fragrances, preservatives, or animal ingredients and they don't test their products on animals either. This sold us on their brand. Who wants to use personal hygiene products with items that were created in a science lab?! We do not! When we were at Walmart the other night grabbing a few things we were almost out of we picked up Tom's of Maine® Silly Strawberry® Anticavity Toothpaste, 4.2oz. for Kelsie, and Tom's of Maine® Simply White® Clean Mint Cavity Protection Toothpaste, 4.7oz for the rest of us. You don't have to search on a different aisle or some crazy location for Tom's of Maine toothpaste. It is conveniently located with all the other toothpastes. Prior to having children, I was a special education teacher, and I had many children with all different sorts of allergies. It's amazing how many products outside of food contain allergens - play dough, hand lotions, soaps, etc. It's great that Tom's of Maine doesn't contain dyes and any other common allergens. #client
