The one thing that I miss the most about fall is pumpkin patches. In Panama City, we don't really have anything near us that is exactly what I'm used to.  When the girls were little we used to go visit family in central Alabama and visit a huge pumpkin patch, complete with a tractor ride to the patch, large hay bails to climb, and pony rides. Here, pumpkin patches consist of piles of pumpkins laid out across the ground, already picked from the vine and trucked in. That's ok, if you have never been to a real pumpkin patch. Disappointing for those of us who know what a pumpkin patch actually looks like.

Several years ago I went on a search for a pumpkin patch that was within driving distance to us. We went to one about 45 minutes from here in Seaside that was less than stellar. It may have been the first year it had opened, I don't know, but it was disappointing to say the least. They didn't have many pumpkins to choose from, and that was about it. A horse here and there, but nothing that would get us in the fall mood. Nothing that screamed October.

The year after that I went searching online again. <---- I was determined to find something equivalent to what we were used to going to every October. I found a place called Aplin Farms. Located in Dothan, a good hour and a half away, depending on the traffic. I checked them out on Facebook, and the pictures showed me exactly what I had hoped to see. A real farm. A real pumpkin patch that you can ride a tractor to the patch and pick those bad boys from the vine! It was set. This is where we were going to go.

Aplin Farms has been a four generation family owned and operated since 1952. They do more than just host a pumpkin patch with fun every year. Throughout the different seasons you will find all sorts of vegetables. You can buy them already picked, or you can pick them yourself!

We drove up, and much to our surprise it was better than what we had thought. There was the ride to the patch, there were sunflower fields, corn mazes, an animal petting area, bounce houses (although none of us bounced), and large hay bails painted to look like different animals.

We knew that this was where we were going to go every year for our pumpkin patch fix!

Just a little heads up the first two years, using the GPS, we were completely lost. My advice, get the directions from Google and print them out. This way you won't be lost driving in the country for what seemed like forever. The prices are super reasonable, they start at $1 and go to $12. Pumpkins range in size from small to up to 30 pounds!

All opinions are my own, these are our honest reviews. We were in no way compensated for this post.

Love a good farm, especially if it is a working one with real grown veggies and fruits. We have a few around where I live and we visit them every time they are open to us!

I absolutely love your pictures. They really tell a story. I saw the ones from the aquarium as well and I'm in love (The one with the turtle is my favourite!) In this post I would say my favourite is the one with you and your girl with the sunflowers as a background

Those flowers are stunning! Living in Arizona we rarely get to experience a real farm when we're picking pumpkins. Maybe this will be the year!

Awww, the little goats are so cute! That's what I love about going to a farm, all the animals. I would really love to see them for myself up close and personal.

That pumpkin patch looks fantastic! You are making me wish October was here again. Last year I kept wishing to go to a pumpkin patch and never did. This year I must make a point to do so!

Sounds like such a great place! I know what you mean about pumpkin patches though. Back home in WV real farms are everywhere but in Atlanta I don't have anything that can even come close.
