Homemade Hamburger Helper - Crunchy Taco

  • 1 pound ground beef use grass-fed beef and you'll be shocked as to why you never have before
  • 1/2 small onion chopped
  • 1 taco seasoning packet Publix does sell an organic brand in the "Greenwise" section on the baking aisle
  • 1/2 cup salsa for topping, or if you don't have a tomato allergy you can add this when you add the seasoning
  • 1 3/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1 cup whole grain rice
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar
  • Tortilla Chips for topping
  • Extra shredded cheese for topping


  1. Brown your ground beef with your onion in a large skillet and drain the grease off.
  2. Add the taco seasoning, chicken broth, and salsa {if no allergies}, and bring to a boil.
  3. Add your rice, cover, and reduce heat to low.
  4. Simmer for 15-20 minutes or until your rice is cooked through.
  5. Remove from heat, stir in cheddar cheese until melted.

Recipe Notes

Plate up and top with your favorite toppings. The above mentioned is what we use, but you can add sour cream, guacamole, or any other favorite Mexican food topping! I think whole kernel corn and/or black beans would be delicious!
