broccoli - I only eat the florets so this recipe is perfect for those out there like me! I find it best to use a sharp paring knife for cutting the florets off the stems.
fruit - I love the sweetness that the fruit adds to the fresh broccoli. Plus everything is better with blueberries and apple. You can also add grapes that have been sliced in half, or strawberries.
poppy seed dressing - I love this dressing, and I find that it's truly the best dressing for broccoli. It lends a sweetness that makes me want to make the dressing, just to dip fresh broccoli florets in - it's THAT good!

how do you make broccoli salad with poppy seed dressing?
- In a large bowl combine broccoli florets, blueberries and chopped apple. Set aside.
- Mix together the ingredients together to make the poppy seed dressing. Pour in the broccoli fruit mix and toss until everything is coated.

What is the best way to was fresh broccoli? Instead of rinsing the broccoli from the top of the head, turn it over, and rinse from under the florets. This helps flush any trash out from inside and away from the broccoli.
You can also toss the florets into a sink full of cold water and jostle it about.
Can you make broccoli salad ahead of time? Yes! I love making this ahead of time. You can make this the day before and store in an airtight container in the fridge.
How long can you store broccoli salad? This can be stored for up to 3 days in the fridge, in an air tight container.
Can I make this without Greek yogurt? You can use non fat plain yogurt. Or if you aren't looking for the skinny option, a good vanilla yogurt would be tasty.
What can I add to broccoli salad? Sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, chopped bacon, or raisins. If you love red onion, finely diced onion would give it a nice bite.

Ingredients
Poppy Seed Dressing
- 1 cup Greek Yogurt, plain
- ΒΌ cup honey
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
- Β½ tablespoon poppy seeds
Salad
- 1 Β½ pounds broccoli florets
- 1 cup fresh blueberries
- 1 large apple, diced
Instructions
- Mix together the ingredients for the dressing, and set aside. In a large bowl toss together the broccoli, blueberries and apples. Pour the dressing over the top,and toss to coat. Refrigerate for at least and hour prior to serving.
