I love having smoothies for breakfast, but once you start using protein powders or instant breakfast packets, the sugar is on the rise, and with my low blood sugar, I crash 30 minutes later. No good. Honestly not really good for anybody, blood sugar problems or not.
I was on Pinterest one day; actually I'm there all the time, go over and follow me, and I saw a recipe from one of my favorite bloggers (Minimalistbaker). I had to recreate it and make it allergy friendly for Kelsie! It's delicious and we all love having these in the mornings. I kind of make a triple batch and the girls and I drink these for breakfasts on the go.

What do you need?
1 to 1 ½ cups milk (or alternate dairy of your choice)
3 pitted dates
1 sliced, then frozen banana
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 tablespoon peanut butter
What do you do?
All all of your ingredients into a high powdered blender, we have a Ninja.
Begin by pulsing several times to get the frozen banana and dates broken down.
Blend until all ingredients are blended together.

Sounds great! Thanks for sharing at Inspire Me Mondays!
Thank you for hosting!
Love your pics and the recipe! I make a similar smoothie but I'll have to try mine with the dates! Linking up with you from mama moments monday:)
Thank you! The dates bring the perfect sweetness to it without all the added sugar. 🙂
This looks great! I make smoothies with banana, peanut butter, cocoa, and dairy frequently, and the dates sound like a great addition, I will be trying this!
Let me know if you do, and what you think of adding the dates!
Spotted your link at Inspire Me Mondays. I am drooling over here, thanks for the recipe, will be trying it for breakfast soon.

This looks really good. I don't think I've ever had dates. Do they add a flavor to t his or just a sweetness?
(visiting from Titus 2 Tuesday)
There is a bit of a flavor, but it's more there for the added sweetness. I'm sure you could add in honey, agave, or even maple syrup. Or taste it without, still just as yummy, not as sweet. 🙂

Smoothies are a best friend to those who are in a hurry or those that just want a way to "eat" their greens! We love them too. 🙂

Thanks for joining Cooking and Crafting with J & J!
I know, but it is! 🙂
Yummy - anything with peanut butter gets a gold medal from me. Visiting from Ladies Collective.
Love the gold medal idea, because I agree! 🙂

Yummy! You could add a scoop of protein powder as well for more of a "meal"...
Sometimes protein powders, because of the added sugars make me have a sugar crash. For most people it's completely fine to add the protein powder. 🙂
Now this takes a smoothie to a whole different level! Thanks for linking up at the Weekend Blog Hop at My Flagstaff Home!
Thank you for hosting! 🙂

Dates! How clever! Thanks for sharing at Thursday Favorite Things!
That's what I thought as well! Dates are so versatile and Vegans use them all the time as their sweetener.
