Everybody, well almost everybody, serves some sort of mashed potato for a holiday family gathering. Well, I have one that takes the well known favorite a step further in terms of flavor. Our family loves this version and I know yours will too. It's really too easy not to make. Give it a try before the holidays and I guarantee that you'll make this to go on the dinner table!

What do you need?
4 large baking potatoes, peeled and chopped - you want 3 pounds
1 teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
5 tablespoons butter, divided
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar
¾ cup half-n-half
¼ cup sour cream
What do you do?
1. Boil your potatoes until they are fork tender. Drain and place in a large bowl.
2. On top of your potatoes add the salt, pepper, butter, garlic, sour cream, and half-n-half. Using a stand mixer, mix until the potatoes are creamy. If they are too stiff, add a bit more half-n-half.
3. Stir in the cheese by hand until thoroughly incorporated.

My son has been asking me to make garlic mashed potatoes so I found this recipe and made it today for dinner with grilled pork chops. Wow.....we ate like kings! I'm definitely pinning this recipe for future use!
