One of the first things that I ever decided to make from scratch after Kelsie was diagnosed with food allergies besides poptarts, was taco seasoning. It's too easy not to make, and I am almost positive that you have everything you need in your spice cabinet. Even if you don't have food allergies you should give this a try. Have you read the back of a taco seasoning packet? It's just riddled with ingredients that were created one day in a chemistry lab. Plus the homemade stuff tastes so much better!

Always love those homemade recipes instead of those package kind of seasoning. We use Taco seasoning a lot so this would be a keeper recipe. Appreciate you sharing. Stopping by from the Ladies Collective.

Hi Joanna!
Thanks so much for this taco seasoning recipe. For a package that is so small it is crazy how many ingredients are in it, many that have nothing to do with spices at all! Would you say this is on the mild side or the hot side? I like the hot stuff, but my husband isn't as much of a fan. Thanks again, I'll be pinning this for later. 🙂
Cheers!
AJ

We use about 1/2 to 1 tablespoon per pound of meat, and to me it's kinda spicy. Start with 1/2 tablespoon and taste, you can always bump it up! Or tell him to add sour cream to his to tone it down. 😉

I always use my own taco seasoning. Homemade is always better than store bought. This looks like what I typically use although I'm too lazy to pre-mix it I just add a pinch of this and a dash or a palm full of that. 🙂
Joanna says
I have been known to do the same! If I run out and my jar is in the dishwasher I will do the pinch of this and that as well. 🙂

I've been looking for this recipe! I love the packet, but I think it has MSG in it, so I've been looking for a healthier version. Pinning and will definitely try this...
Joanna says
Thank you for pinning! I think you may be right about the MSG, we try to steer clear of it as well.

I love making mixes like these where I don't have to buy them anymore. You know the ingredients that you put in there, so you know what your eating! 🙂 Thank you so much for the feature, it means so much to me!
