So many people grab a can from the store, chill, slice, and serve. Nothing is wrong with that, I happen to love a slice of cranberry sauce from a can, however, this presents itself just a little bit nicer. It’s easy to make, and the only thing you probably need to buy is cranberries.
This easy homemade cranberry sauce with orange only requires 15 minutes of your time and 5 ingredients.
Make this ahead of time, and there is no need to worry about a can this year.

Thanksgiving falls on Thursday – you can make this on Monday! Just store in an air tight container in the fridge.
How can I use leftover cranberry sauce?
You can use it to top ice cream, cheesecake, or pound cake. It’s also quite tasty when making turkey sandwich’s or a turkey and grilled cheese sandwich.
Can I make cranberry sauce without sugar?
You can use maple syrup, honey or agave. The texture and flavors will be different, but still quite delicious.

- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 12 ounces fresh cranberries
- 1 cinnamon stick
- pinch of salt
- Combine water, orange juice, and sugar in a large sauce pot, over medium to high heat. Stir to combine.
- Add the cranberries, salt, and cinnamon stick.
- Bring to a simmer, stirring frequently.
- Simmer for no more than 10 minutes.
- Let cool for 30 minutes. Place in an air tight container, and place in the fridge until ready to serve.
